Visit to Shandong

 

In June 2023, Prof. Shavit traveled to Shandong to further deepen our cooperation with our partners at the Joint Institute. There, he met with senior SDU university leaders and spent time with co-chair of the Institute Prof. Fu Youde and staff and students at SDU’s Center for Judaic and Inter-Religious Studies, building on the strong foundation of ties between the two universities. He gave six lectures at SDU on topics related to Zionism, Israeli history, politics and society, Islamist radicalism in the Middle East, and October 7 and its aftermath. He also experienced Shandong, the cradle of civilization and meeting point of cultures, gaining and being enriched more from his experience than what he gave through his lectures.
