Mehlman Library - Collections

Below is a list of collections donated to the Mehlman Library from the estates of renowned scholars, donations from associations, embassies, foundations, and university chairs:

• The Italia Judaica Collection, from the personal library of Prof. Shlomo Simonsohn

• Bequests from Anschel Reiss, Prof. Berl Mark, and Adv. A. Kosoy, and the library of the researcher Hersch Smolar, all related to the history of Polish Jewry

• Bequest of Prof. P. Czerniak on the Holocaust and the history of several survivors

• The Association of Lithuanian Jews in Israel Collection

• Balkan Jewish History Collection, donated by Prof. Maren Frejdenberg

• The Jews of Bessarabia Memorial Collection, donated by Mendel Beit-David (Davidson)

• Jews of Pinsk Collection

• The Yitzhak Raphael Molho Collection, editor of the Tesoro de los judíos sefardíes journal

• A Collection in Spanish on the History of Spanish Jewry

• Canadian Jewish History Collection, honouring Sue Carol Isaacson

• The Private Collections of Prof. S. Shapiro and Dr. Ilana Kedmi, which include historical and literary materials in Hebrew and other languages

• Collection in Memory of Dr. Aharon J. Bialer-Arbelli, a gift by his wife Guta

• The Uruguay-Israel Friendship Association contributed a collection of Semanario Hebreo, an important Jewish newspaper published in Montevideo

The library also includes many publications of historical Jewish press and periodicals in various languages (Hebrew, Yiddish, Ladino, Slavic languages, etc.) which were published in Israel and in the Diaspora in different periods.
