About the Project

The project “Sabbatean Movements: The Impact on Eastern Jewry” was launched by the Center in March 2022. The first stage of the project will include collecting materials and creating as broad a base of information as possible on the communities and locations of the Sabbatean network in eastern lands. The researchers aim to build a reliable data source that will later become an online database of all the materials and research knowledge accumulated over the course of the project. The database will be part of the Center’s increasing emphasis on the field of Digital Humanities, and it will be available for other researchers and encourage in-depth analysis of the topic.

The researchers are also engaged in the preparation of compiled works of well-known scholars of the period, among them:

Four Sermons by Abraham Miguel Cardoso

The Dreams of Abraham Yachini, as described in his writings: Eshel Abraham (Constantinopolis, 1658-1660), Sefer Razi Li (Constantinopolis 1658-1662) and Vavey ha-'Ammudim (Constantinopolis, 1681), in cooperation with Dr. Ruth Kara-Ivanov from the University of Haifa
