Dr. Raquel Shaoul (Ph.D. in international relations, specializing in Japanese politics, from King's College, London).
Raquel is an educator and an educational-social entrepreneur.
For the past twenty years, she has lectured in the Department of East Asian Studies at Tel Aviv University (2002-22) and in parallel to academia, has, for the past twelve years, been developing and implementing unique programs in the Ministry of Education. These include: "International Relations in the Global Era" (5 matriculation units) and the Etnachta program (sponsored by the Experimental Research and Initiatives Incubator of the Ministry of Education), both at the Herzliya Hebrew Gymnasium.
Raquel views education as an essential resource for the individual, and crucial for the existence of a healthy and prosperous society. Therefore, the educational approach that she advocates and develops originates in the content world of educational ecology, which places the individual at the center. She believes that the educational act will only be implemented in practice when the person is at peace with themselves (both student and teacher) and those around them.
While a research fellow at the Jack Joseph and Morton Mandel Center for Public Humanities at Tel Aviv University, Raquel hopes to document and research her experience with the Etnachta program, with the aim of expanding the field of social-emotional education in Israel.
