Dr. Taghreed Yahia-Younis is a political sociologist, who received her Ph.D. (cum laude) in sociology and anthropology from Tel Aviv University. She completed her postdoctoral fellowship at the School for Oriental and African Studies (SOAS), University of London, and was a guest researcher at the London School of Economics and Political Science, and, in recent years, at the University of Cambridge, England. Taghreed is the recipient of several prestigious scholarships, including the British Academy Postdoctoral Fellowship. Her main areas of research are the sociology of alienation and belonging; gender and politics; gender and space; masculinity, feminism and women's movements in the Middle East; culture and ethnicity, sociology of language, and qualitative research methods. Her current research focuses on language. Taghreed teaches at the School of Cultural Sciences and the Gender Studies Program at Tel Aviv University. Over the course of two decades, she has acquired extensive experience in teaching at various universities and institutions of higher education in Israel. The courses she has built and taught deal with her research interests. In a previous phase of her life, she was involved in teaching and education in high school.
