Why Study English Literature?

Have you ever wanted to see more deeply into the meaning of your favorite novels? Have you ever considered how literary texts helped shape our ideas, values and social institutions? Curious about the dynamic interplay between literature and other disciplines, such as history, philosophy and psychology?

In the English Literature track, students delve into the vast and diverse world of English literature, exploring classics, contemporary works, and critical theories. Courses cover a broad spectrum of literary periods, genres, and themes, allowing students to develop a deep understanding of the evolution of English and American literature and hone their analytical and critical thinking skills.

Our studies often incorporate interdisciplinary approaches, encouraging students to explore connections between literature and other fields, including history, philosophy, cultural studies, art,  and gender studies. Through such interdisciplinary exploration, students gain a comprehensive understanding of the cultural, social, and historical contexts that shape literary works, enriching their appreciation of literature as a reflection of diverse human experiences. The English Literature track not only equips students with a profound knowledge of literary traditions but also nurtures their intellectual curiosity and analytical abilities.

Most of the courses in the program are conducted in English, which also results in improving students’ communication skills both in writing and speaking.
