Alumni

 

Many of the Cohn Institute’s alumni have gone on to pursue academic careers. Some have come back to teach at the Institute or teach the history and philosophy of science at other university departments. Since the Institute allows its students to specialize in a wide range of topics, spanning from antiquity to the present, it also enables them to find positions in other university departments – not only in Israel, but all over the world.

 

All over the World:

Orna Ophir is the Associate Director of The DeWitt Wallace Institute of Psychiatry: History, Policy and the Arts, at Weill-Cornell Medical College, in New York and since 2018 teachs at the Gallatin School for Individualized Studies at NYU

Ariella Azoulay is Professor of Comparative Literature and Modern Culture and Media at Brown University.

Amos Edelheit is Lecturer at the department of Philosophy, Maynooth University, Ireland.

Miran Epstein is Senior Lecturer in Medical Ethics and Law at Queen Mary University of London.

Hagar Kotef is Senior Lecturer in Political Theory and Comparative Politics at the School of Oriental and Asian Studies (SOAS), London.

Ohad Parnes is Research Coordinator and Senior Research Scholar at the Max Planck Institute for the History of Science, Berlin. 

Roy Wagner holds the newly created Chair of History and Philosophy of Mathematical Sciences at the ETH Zurich.

Mical Raz is Charles E. and Dale L. Phelps Professor in Public Policy and Health at the department of history, University of Rochester.

Merav Amir is Senior Lecturer at the School of Natural and Built Environment, Queen's University Belfast.

 

At Ben Gurion University of the Negev:

Daniel Filc is Associate Professor in the Department of Politics and Government.

Michael Fried is Associate professor in mathematics education.

Michal Givoni is Lecturer in the Department of Politics and Government.

Galia Plotkin Amrami is Lecturer in the School of Education.

Amnon Raz-Krakotzkin is Head of the Department of Jewish Studies at BGU and the Academic Director of the Jewish Culture and Jewish Thinking unit at the Van Leer Jerusalem Institute.

Hanan Yoran is Senior Lecturer in the Department of History at BGU, Ahva Academic College and at the Interdisciplinary Center.

 

At Hebrew University of Jerusalem:

Raz Chen-Morris is Senior Lecturer in the Department of History.

Ayelet Even-Ezra is Lecturer in the Department of History.

 

At Bar Ilan University:

Noah Efron is a senior faculty member in the Graduate Program in Science, Technology and Society.

Aner Govrin is Director of a doctoral program in the Program for Hermeneutics and Cultural Studies.

 

At the Open University:

Nurit Kirsh is the Head of the Graduate Program in Biological Thought.

 

At Tel Aviv University:

Boaz Hagin is Senior Lecturer at the Steve Tisch School of Film and Television, Faculty of the Arts.

Orna Harari is Senior Lecturer in the department of Classics and the department of Philosophy.

Ishay Rosen-Zvi is Associate Professor and the Head of the Talmud and Late Antiquity section in the department of Hebrew Culture Studies.

Amir Teicher is Lecturer at the Department of General History.

 

At the Cohn Institute:

Leo Corry became the Institute’s Bert and Barbara Cohn Professor of History and Philosophy of Science and currently is Dean of the Humanities Faculty.

Menachem Fisch, the first student to be awarded a Ph.D. at the Cohn Institute, became the Institute’s Joseph and Ceil Mazer Professor of History and Philosophy of Science. He retired in 2016 and recently was awarded the prestigious Humboldt Research Award in recognition of his achievements.

Shaul Katzir is Senior Lecturer at the Institute.

Ehud Lamm is Senior Lecturer at the Institute and one of the Heads of the newly launched Interuniversity Program in History and Philosophy of the Life Sciences.

Ido Yavetz is Senior Lecturer at the Institute.

Sinait Gissis is teaching at the Institute.
